Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The results of the municipal elections held in Punjab have sent a strong signal to the state's political map. With a significant victory in the local body elections, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the strongest political force in the state. Winning 5 of the 8 municipal corporations and a large number of municipal councils and nagar panchayats shows that the party is preparing well for the 2027 assembly elections.Although the Congress and BJP have also managed to register their presence in some of the regions, but generally the mood seems to be in favor of AAP. That's why this result is being considered an early indication of the 2027 assembly elections.AAP won 5 municipal corporations outrightIn municipal elections, the Aam Aadmi Party managed to win in 5 municipal corporations Bathinda, Moga, Barnala, Batala, Mohali with clear majority. The Aam Aadmi Party captured Mohali Corporation after winning 26 of 50 seats in corporation. Congress came in with 12 seats and Akali Dal & BJP remained far behind.In Moga also, AAP managed to get 31 of 50 wards of Municipal Corporation. In Barnala, Aam Aadmi Party got 36 seats. The results in the municipality of Bathinda and municipality of Batala were also comfortable for AAP.Clearly, the base of AAP remained intact even in the urban areas and the work of the government has received people's support.BJP and Congress also managed to save faceAlong with Aam Aadmi Party being the biggest gainer, the BJP and Congress have also been able to save their territory in some areas. In Abohar Municipal Corporation, the BJP achieved clear majority by winning 28 seats. This win is considered important as Abohar is the native constituency of senior BJP leader and former state president Sunil Jakhar.On the other hand, the Congress got very good results in the municipal corporation of Kapurthala by winning 31 out of 50 seats, in this the Congress has sent a message that it has not weakened completely and in many areas, there is still a vote bank.The results of Pathankot Municipal Corporation were most interesting. Here, the BJP remained the largest party but did not get a majority after winning 22 seats. While Congress secured 18 seats and AAP got 10 seats. Through this result, it was clear that the hold of the BJP is in the border areas and specific parts, but it needs public support.AAP also made gains in Nagar Parishad and Nagar PanchayatBesides the Municipal Corporations, the Aam Aadmi Party has also made significant gains in Nagar Parishad and Nagar Panchayats. In 75 municipalities in the state, AAP registered victory in 45. Congress secured only 5 seats, BJP got 3 seats and Akali Dal got 2 seats.
