Apple’s India iPhone Export Boom: A Massive 82% Surge in Q1 2025


Exports of iPhones from India for Apple have reached an astonishing 6 billion dollars for the first quarter of 2025. That is an increase of 82 percent from the 3.2 billion dollars of the previous year. As a result of this growth, India’s smartphone export figures are also on the rise. Furthermore, the country’s smartphone shipments have reached an all-time high of 7.72 billion dollars, a significant year on year rise of 58 percent, despite growing tariff concerns from the US.What caused this increase? Apple’s growing dependence on India for the iPhones’production, which is supported by local suppliers Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics, is a significant factor. The 2020 Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme from the Indian government also played a factor, enabling Apple to increase production capacity and shift some of the supply range from China to other countries.Apple is currently the largest smartphone vendor of India, making up for 78 percent of the country's exports which means this is also the best quarter for Apple. India’s smartphone exports have increased substantially over the years and the country is currently positioned to be a dominating manufacturer for electronics. This shows the high focus on foreign investment and the success of government policy reforms aimed at encouraging investment in India.There's good news for the tourism industry as the number of voyages, bookings, and tourism spots have sky rocketed with regions openining up. However, one concern comes to mind, The US. has also enacted Section 232 which investigates tariffs towards other regions making it a snow ball effect for every other area violent economy depending area.
