Australia and Pakistan make it to the semi-finals for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025.


The Hong Kong Sixes 2025 showcased yet another beautiful day of six-a-side cricket at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground on Saturday, with Australia and Pakistan performing wonderfully to grab the last two spots in the semi-finals.On Saturday, Australia and Pakistan completed the semi-final line-up after winning their matches, performing brilliantly on the day. For India, however, it proved to be a disappointing day, after losing all three of their matches as the Hong Kong Sixes press release indicated.In a must-win Pool C clash against Kuwait, India suffered a disappointing 27 run defeat, securing third position in the group behind Kuwait (1st) and Pakistan (2nd). India were set a target of 107 runs, but were bowled out for 79 runs in 6 overs, with Kuwait's Yasin Patel bagging 3 wickets for 23 runs. With that result, the matches in the quarterfinals were set for Pakistan and Kuwait, while India were placed in the Bowl matches.In the Bowl stage, India again suffered a disappointing result with their match against the UAE, despite the quickfire knocks of Abhimanyu Mithun (50 runs off 16) and Dinesh Karthik (42 runs off 14) which led to a total of 108 runs, India were unable to defend that as the UAE Khalid Shah scored 50 runs off 14 balls to finish the match and hand India a defeat.The final match for India was equally troublesome to their prior match against Nepal. Nepal tallied 137 runs and India could only manage 45 runs. That score is enough to lose any match by 92 runs. Rashid Khan was highlighted in the match with 55 runs in 17 balls and 3 runs while taking 7 wickets. The quarterfinals was highlighted by dominating Australia and Pakistan. Australia made it to the semifinals by defeating Bangladesh by 54 runs. This was made possible by half centuary scores made by Ben McDermott and Alex Ross. McDermott made 51 runs in 14 balls and Ross made 50 runs in 11 balls. Chris Green took 3 wickets for 32 runs. Pakistan also showed their dominating style by defeating South Africa by 5 wickets. After chasing South Africa's 3 wickets for 102 runs, the Pakistan's side decreased their score in just 3.5 overs. Abdul Samad's 50 runs in 10 balls helped Pakistan clinch their semifinals spot.The first semi-final will consist of Australia and Pakistan and take place on the 9th of November. India is scheduled to play their final match against Sri Lanka which will be a bowl fixture.
