Bangladesh Extremists Burn Hindu Residence and Warn Minority Community of Consequences

Tensions continue to escalate for religious minorities in Bangladesh as miscreants targeted a Hindu family in Chattogram by setting their residence on fire and leaving behind a threatening banner issued as a final warning. The incident occurred in the port city where the home belonging to expatriates Jayanti Sangha and Babu Shukushil was reduced to ashes. While the family members inside were able to save their lives by cutting through a fence and escaping the inferno their pets were unable to flee and tragically died in the blaze. Following the attack locals discovered a handwritten banner in Bengali placed near the site which accused the Hindu residents of being involved in activities against Islam. The note explicitly stated that the community was being closely observed and threatened them with severe consequences if they did not align with the demands terming it a last warning. This brazen act of arson has heightened fears among the minority Hindu population who have faced a series of similar attacks on their homes and temples in recent months drawing international concern over their safety and the law and order situation in the country.
