India’s all-rounder suffered a setback after third ODI against Afghanistan in June. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have named Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge as Nitish Kumar Reddy’s replacement for the upcoming Ireland and England T20Is after the Sunrisers Hyderabad star was ruled out.Suryansh has earned his maiden call up to the national side following his exceptional performance for India A and domestically.The Mumbai lad will replace Nitish in the T20I squad for two games against Ireland and a five-match series against England. Interestingly, the 22-year-old has also been included in India’s squad for their 3-match ODI series against England that begins on July 14. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had also earlier stated that the SRH star will miss only the T20Is, hinting at his availability for the 50-over matches. BCCI confirms Nitish’s injury The all-rounder developed a discomfort in his quadriceps region post the third ODI encounter against Afghanistan that took place on June 20, The BCCI’s medical team ruled out Reddy’s participation from the T20I tours post diagnosis."Nitish reported left quadriceps discomfort after the third ODI against Afghanistan on June 20.Following a subsequent medical assessment, the BCCI Medical Team has recommended a period of rehabilitation, ruling him out of both T20I series," said BCCI in a statement. It is worth recalling that Nitish also missed the second ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow due to a similar issue in his quadriceps. It was earlier revealed by skipper Shubman Gill during the toss ceremony that "some issues with his quad" had caused the all-rounder to miss the game.He later returned to theplaying eleven for the decider in Chennai after assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate suggested he “will be good to go for tomorrow’s game.”
