Chandigarh to experience dust storms for four days; Meteorological Department issues alert, with possibility of rain

Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Dust storms in Chandigarh for 4 days; Yellow alert issued by Meteorological Dept., possibility of rain Chandigarh: Even as heat persists in the city, the weather is about to turn. Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next four days citing possibilities of dust storms, strong winds and light rain. While this will surely be a respite from heat, there is a possibility of some disruption on account of dust and wind. According to Met Department, strong winds of speed 40 to 50 kilometer per hour will blow in city and its peripheral area from Friday for next 4 days and in between that dust storm and light showers will hit in most of the parts. It has issued a yellow alert for the same in view of the weather expected in the region. Thursday was quite tough on the residents as throughout the day extreme heat and humidity tormented them. In the afternoon as it turned to high hot winds people chose to stay indoors and traffic had also reduced. At around 4 PM the weather turned suddenly and dust storms hit most parts of the city. Clouds had momentarily turned dark as people eagerly waited for rain but soon weather became normal. Meteorological Department data show the highest temperature in the city recorded on Thursday was 39.2 degree Celsius which was 2.6 degrees below the normal temperature whereas the minimum temperature recorded was 25.5 degree Celsius. The temperature may be below normal, but a person had to experience quite a heat owing to humidity and hot winds. Weather experts believe that over the next few days the weather is going to witness a see-sawing effect because of effects of western disturbances and local weather activities. As the strong winds may also bring down the mercury level slightly; the dust storms would bring visibility to zero causing problems for drivers.
