Chanpatia MLA Criticizes BJP’s 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' Campaign Amid Severe Flood Devastation in Bihar

As vast regions of Bihar grapple with severe flood devastation, leading to submerged villages, destroyed crops, and displaced families, political tensions have flared up significantly. Chanpatia MLA Abhishek Ranjan has launched a scathing attack on the ruling dispensation, taking a sharp dig at the BJP's ongoing 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' and 'Seva Pakhwada' campaigns celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years in public life. Addressing reporters during a press conference at his residence, the MLA asserted that extending immediate relief and permanent rehabilitation to flood victims should take precedence over political campaigns and celebrations. Challenging the leadership, he stated, "Permanently eliminate the flood problem from Bihar, and we will celebrate Diwali for you throughout Bihar," while questioning the fulfillment of previous electoral promises made by senior leaders regarding flood management.Highlighting Regional Crisis in West Champaran and Demanding Action on Journalist SafetyDrawing attention to the grim ground realities in West Champaran districts such as Yogapatti, Bairia, and Nautan, MLA Abhishek Ranjan noted that residents are abandoning their homes for safer shelters as farmers watch their livelihoods wash away. He stressed that temporary relief announcements are insufficient, calling instead for a concrete, scientific policy focused on robust embankment strengthening, proper river management, timely crop damage compensation, and enhanced rural infrastructure. Furthermore, the legislator strongly condemned recent incidents of assault and threats against media personnel—citing specific cases at Saharsa Sadar Hospital and GMCH—warning that attacks on the fourth pillar of democracy will not be tolerated and vowing to raise the issue of journalist safety forcefully from the streets to the floor of the Assembly.
