Climate Crisis : CM Yogi Warns Against Global Warming and Global Cooling on International Forest Day

On the occasion of International Day of Forests, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a stern warning to humanity regarding the dual threats of Global Warming and the often-overlooked Global Cooling. Addressing a high-level gathering, the CM emphasized that the imbalance in nature is no longer a distant threat but a pressing reality that requires immediate collective action.A New Warning to Humanity: Beyond Global WarmingWhile the world has long been focused on rising temperatures, CM Yogi highlighted that extreme climate shifts—including "Global Cooling" in specific regions—pose a new set of challenges. He noted that the erratic behavior of weather patterns is a direct consequence of large-scale deforestation and the disruption of ecological cycles. "Humanity is standing at a crossroads where our survival depends entirely on our harmony with nature," he remarked. The Power of Forests: Nature's Only Carbon SinkThe Chief Minister reiterated that forests are the most effective and natural defense against carbon emissions. He highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s massive plantation drives as a global benchmark for environmental conservation. By increasing the green cover, the state aims to create a "natural shield" that can regulate local temperatures and mitigate the harsh effects of climate shifts, ensuring a stable environment for future generations.Massive Reforestation: UP’s Vision for a Greener FutureEmphasizing the state's proactive role, the CM discussed the mission to plant billions of saplings across Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is not just about numbers but about restoring biodiversity. He urged every citizen to become a "Green Soldier," suggesting that tree plantation should be treated as a sacred duty (Sanskriti) rather than just a government program.Sustainable Development: Balancing Progress and NatureThe address concluded with a call for "Sustainable Coexistence." CM Yogi pointed out that while industrial and infrastructure growth is essential, it must not come at the cost of the environment. He advocated for a development model where technology and ecology walk hand-in-hand, citing the rejuvenation of rivers and the protection of wildlife corridors as key components of this vision.
