CM Yogi to Launch 88 Mega Projects Worth ₹1,663 Crore in Gorakhpur

Gifting a massive festive bonanza to his home turf ahead of Diwali, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 88 high-impact infrastructure and civic welfare projects worth ₹1,663 crore across Gorakhpur on November 1, 2026. The expansive development blitz focuses on de-congesting critical rail corridors, fortifying urban flood mitigation frameworks, revamping modern drainage infrastructure, and upgrading underground sewerage handling across the eastern UP district. The high-profile itinerary includes dedicating the landmark Chauri Chaura Railway Overbridge (ROB) to eliminate historical bottlenecks, inaugurating Phase 1 of the crucial Godhdoiya Nala overhaul, and initiating expansive road and drainage works under the AMRUT 2.0 program.Chauri Chaura Traffic Relief: ₹59.44 Cr Railway Overbridge to End BottlenecksCommencing his district tour on Sunday morning in the Chauri Chaura assembly constituency, the Chief Minister will formally inaugurate the Bhopa Bazaar Railway Overbridge, executed at an expenditure of ₹59.44 crore. Built over level crossing 147B along the busy Gorakhpur-Bhatni rail line, the bridge ends decades of daily gridlock for local traders, office-goers, and students who frequently encountered shut railway gates due to heavy train movements. Designed as an artistic homage to regional heritage, the bridge pillars and approach walls are adorned with elaborate mural artwork immortalizing the martyrs of the historic 1922 Chauri Chaura freedom struggle. In addition to the overbridge, the Chief Minister will dedicate and lay stones for 84 related assembly-level civic works worth ₹287.56 crore, centering on rural road connectivity and flood prevention embankments.Revamping Urban Drainage: ₹495 Cr Godhdoiya Nala Phase 1 UnveiledReturning to the city center, the Chief Minister will inaugurate Phase 1 of the landmark Godhdoiya Nala revamp project, executed at an outlay of ₹495.24 crore to solve perpetual waterlogging across 17 northern city municipal wards. The first phase features a newly constructed 7.75-kilometer RCC concrete channel along the 9.25-kilometer watercourse, backed by 17.50 kilometers of intercepting sewer lines, 14 culvert bridges, and a 61 MLD main pumping station. The project connects to a newly commissioned 38 million liters per day (MLD) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), ensuring wastewater is scientifically treated before draining into Ramgarhtal Lake, a measure that is already revitalizing the ecological health and visual clarity of the iconic lake.Next Phases Fast-Tracked: Phase 2 Channeling and ₹65.93 Cr Parallel Service RoadExpanding the drainage overhaul, the foundation stone will be laid for Phase 2 of the Godhdoiya Nala project, costing ₹92.72 crore to channelize and pave the remaining 1.50-kilometer kachha stretch with heavy-duty RCC works. To secure long-term connectivity to the 38 MLD STP in Bichhiya Railway Colony—presently accessible only via an internal railway road facing future boundary wall closures—Phase 2 incorporates a dedicated 1.5-kilometer access road equipped with 120 smart streetlights and landscape buffers. Furthermore, CM Yogi will initiate the construction of a ₹65.93 crore parallel service corridor running alongside the 7.75-kilometer main drain. The corridor will feature a 3.75-meter carriageway flanking both sides of the canal, crash barriers, green belts, and modern LED street lighting to provide smooth arterial transit for local residents.₹721 Cr AMRUT 2.0 Sewerage Network to Connect Over 43,000 HomesAddressing long-term civic sanitary needs, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation for the Gorakhpur Sewerage Scheme Zone A-3, sanctioned under the central AMRUT 2.0 scheme with an allocated budget of ₹721.40 crore. Covering the expansive catchment zone of the Godhdoiya drain, the project involves laying an extensive 350-kilometer underground sewer network across 17 municipal wards. The massive urban intervention will provide 43,604 direct household sewer connections, supported by two modern intermediate pumping stations possessing discharge capacities of 37.50 MLD and 27 MLD, modernizing Gorakhpur's wastewater management infrastructure to match metropolitan standards.
