CoreWeave's AI Cloud Dominance Fueled by Microsoft Partnership, Analysts Suggest "Buy"

New York, NY - The rapidly growing cloud provider CoreWeave, specializing in AI-related GPU infrastructure, is gaining more attention due to its close relations with tech titan Microsoft. CoreWeave is receiving more attention from analysts, with some even upgrading the stock, due to the greater need for AI computing infrastructure and Microsoft’s projected capital expenditures.CoreWeave focuses exclusively on high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure and offers bare-metal servers that outperform cloud services in security and cost. This focus on bare-metal servers is why OpenAI and Meta have become long-term CoreWeave customers, providing substantial revenue backlogs. Microsoft accounts for a major share, over 72% in Q1 2025, of CoreWeave’s revenues. This figure highlights the strategic nature of this partnership.Although facing challenges like unprofitability per GAAP standards, negative free cash flow, and high valuation, analysts attribute CoreWeave’s strategic position and the AI demand intensity to greater investor optimism. Recent AI ecosystem developments, like the one triggered by Microsoft’s quarterly Azure cloud revenue earnings guidance, core spending increase, and capital allocation, validate CoreWeave’s role further. Citi, for instance, recently upgraded CoreWeave to “Buy” rating considering the stock dip, and despite risks like customer concentration and acquisition integration, viewed the dip as a ‘buying opportunity’.CoreWeave NVIDIA partnership with CoreWeave, including preferential access of the latest GPUs, NVIDIA’s strong position in the GPU market serves to strengthen the company’s CoreWeave’s competitive position in the supply constrained market. Apart from the aggressive expansion CoreWeave is undergoing, the strategic acquisition of Core scientific aims to improve vertical integration of AI infrastructure. While Microsoft scaling back aggressive expansion contracts with CoreWeave due to core delivery problems, the multi-billion dollar core contracts continue to underscore CoreWeave’s commercial importance.Going forward, I anticipate CoreWeave to manage these for debt repayment alongside commercial scaling: optimization of customer base diversity, debt ratio, infrastructure ramping, as well as sustaining the competitive edge in AI infrastructure.
