New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has dismissed the petition that Jamiat Ulama-e Hind filed concerning the film “Udaipur Files.” In what can be characterized as a dramatic struogrudn change, the Central Government has rescinded its prior decision which mandated the film be edited with six cuts, thereby easing the burden on the producers.A division bench led by Chief Justice D. K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela has directed the film producer to meet the government on Monday at 2 PM to make the required submissions. The court further directed that no additional notices for the appearance before the revisional authority will be issued, and the parties are bound to not request for any adjourmments to Monday's proceedings. The revisional authority is directed to decide appropriately, consistent with the law, after hearing all the stakeholders by Wednesday. This was also taken up in the Supreme Court, where the Central Government, represented by its Additional Solicitor General, assured the bench that they would be withdrawing the order dated July 21, 2025. This assurance was critical for the film's producer, who was given time to strategize for the release. As of now, "Udaipur Files" is set to hit theaters on August 8. Yet, the final call on scheduling the screening lies with the Centre after the producer shows up and is reviewed. The earlier discontinuation of the order is a good indication that a way is available for the release on time, so long as the final say is from the government.
