Delhi-NCR Gripped by Heavy Rains: Airlines Issue Travel Advisories Amidst Flight Disruptions

The Delhi-NCR area and its adjoining regions experienced considerable havoc due to heavy rains and strong winds that occurred on Tuesday. This caused a lot of traffic problems, as well as lots of waterlogging. Major airlines such as Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet have already published notices of travel disruptions due to the bad weather, and have advised all travelers to check the status of their flight beforehand. This notice, issued by the airlines, was to avoid unnecessary hassle for passengers. Both Air India and SpiceJet predicted that bad weather would cause problems for flights operating to and from Delhi, and advised travelers to spend more time on their journeys. IndiGo, on the other hand, decided to remind their passengers that it is a bad weather day, and that flights would experience considerable rainfall. SpiceJet's notification was that the passengers anticipated movement to and from Delhi and Dharamshala should take greater notice of the flight status changes. The IMD has decided to take the stand of having a forecast ad informing their passengers that there is a high probability of rain along with thunderstorms for the next couple of days, with possible increasing intensity.Apart from impacting aerial transportation, the persistent and heavy rains have also caused severe waterlogging in multiple areas of Delhi. This has, in turn, crippled the traffic systems in the region, causing immense delays for users owing to the waterlogged streets. Numerous flooded streets have also been brought to light by news channels, showcasing the extent of the prevalent waterlogging. Flight Delays and Advisories: A number of flights departing from Delhi Airport were showing average delays according to live flight tracking data. Airlines, as well as the Indira Gandhi International Airport, have advised passengers to expect delays, with the airport advising the use of Delhi Metro to bypass traffic congestion. Passengers continue being advised to check with their respective airlines for flight status updates to avoid unnecessary delays.
