How much of truth is there in this, or it is a superstition? Find out....What is white spotVitiligo is a skin condition that can gradually cause areas of skin to lose their color and turn white. White spots occur when melanin producing cells in skin known as melanocytes, get destroyed or are non functional. This condition can occur at any stage of life and it can occur on any part of the body. This condition is caused by fungal infection, or destruction of pigment producing cells in skin called melanocytes. Combined intake of fish and milk solely cannot induce this condition.Spread of this belief regarding Fish and Milk:According to Ayurveda and folk tradition, fish and milk are regarded as "virulent foods" (an aggregate of contradictory and incongruent foodstuffs). Based on this, a belief has been transferred from one generation to another that consuming fish and milk can result in skin diseases especially vitiligo. This belief is widely spread and considered true without any solid scientific validation. What do Experts say about itAccording to the dermatologists, there has been no significant scientific research until date which states that drinking milk after consuming fish is responsible for vitiligo. They believe that primary cause of vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder that leads to the attack of the body's immune system on the melanocyte cells. Genetics and environmental factors also contribute to the condition. No authoritative studies has proved a direct link between combined consumption of milk and fish in relation to vitiligo. What does Ayurveda stateAccording to Ayurveda, milk has a cooling effect, which cools the body, whereas fish, in turn, is a warming agent which keeps the body warm. In this case, when you consume milk after having fish, it creates a disruption of both warming and cooling agents. As a result, consuming fish and milk together can cause problems related to digestion.
