Fuel Price Watch: Check Today's Petrol and Diesel Rates, Noida and Patna See Rate Adjustments
Over the past day, there has been a slight decrease in the price of crude oil on the global market. The cost of Brent crude has decreased to $69.01 and WTI to $66.76 per barrel. As expected, this trend is not uniform across all Indian cities. On Tuesday morning, fresh petrol and diesel prices were released, and while some cities saw marginal reductions, in others, prices increased even further. Oil is cheaper in cities such as Noida while both petrol and diesel prices increased in Patna. Simultaneously, petrol and diesel prices are stable in the large metros of Delhi and Mumbai.These varieties showcase that in addition to the global prices, factors like taxation, transport, and even dealer commission at the state level are now determining the rates. Thus, at each city, one observes a different price pattern.Prices remain steady in Delhi-Mumbai, movement seen in other citiesThe four metro cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata – still have no changes to the petrol and diesel prices.In Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs 94.72, while diesel costs Rs 87.62 per liter. Munbai's petrol and diesel prices are at Rs 103.44 and Rs 89.97 per liter, respectively. Chennai's petrol price stands at Rs 100.76 and diesel at Rs 92.35 per liter. In kolkata, petrol costs Rs 104.95 per liter while diesel is cheaper at Rs 91.76 per liter. In pickup region Noida people had some relief while ghaziabad and Patna prices changed in the opposite direction.Noida offered some relief to the people by petrol and diesel prices lowering. Petrol decreased by 18 paise to Rs 94.75 per liter.Diesel decreased 19 paise to Rs 87.78 per liter.Gas prices in Ghaziabad changed the opposite direction.Petrol cost increased 19 paise to Rs 94.64 per liter.Diesel price also increased 21 paise reaching Rs 87.41 per liter.Bihar's capital patna also saw a rise in gas pricing. Petrol price increase of 28 paise reached Rs 105.43 per liter. Diesel price also rose by 27 paise to Rs 91.69 per litre. What causes the difference of petrol and diesel price across cities? The difference in price of petrol and diesel for cities arises due to the added taxation and duties on various levels. Excise duty, VAT, and dealer commission are taxes that are included.Because of this, it costs nearly twice the amount of the original price. Since every state has its own policies on taxation, the rates differ from city to city.
