For 2025, that clave to joy is August 27. For the next 10 days, devotees keep the music flowing and the aarti ringing, until the idol takes a shimmering farewell on Anant Chaturdashi. When is Hartalika Teej Observed?Hartalika Teej happens every year on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. The Ganesh Mahotsav starts the day after that. This year, Tritiya Tithi will start on August 25 at 12:34 PM and end on August 26 at 01:54 PM. Therefore, Hartalika Teej will be observed on August 26.Things to Remember for Ganesh Chaturthi WorshipWhile observing Ganesh Chaturthi, it’s essential to install the idol of Ganesha in the proper direction. The idol should face the north direction and be placed in the north-east corner of the home. Avoid worshipping with a broken idol, even accidentally, as this is considered inauspicious. If a broken idol is brought home, do not install it. Also, do not offer Tulsi leaves, since Ganesh ji prefers Durva grass and Gandha flowers. After placing the idol, everyone in the home should practice celibacy for the next day.
