The state government is effectively implementing the Chief Minister's Pledge Internship Scheme to prepare Bihar's youth for employment and provide them with practical work experience. Implemented through the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), a division of the Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development, this scheme has emerged as a powerful platform for youth to learn on the job in government institutions.The special thing about this scheme is that not only government departments but also many reputed private companies and industrial houses of the country are associated with it as partners.Some private institutions are providing interns with additional benefits, such as food, housing, and transportation, in addition to a stipend. This is providing young people from Bihar with the opportunity to gain work experience at a national level, which will play a crucial role in their career development.Under the Chief Minister Pratigya Internship Scheme, eligible candidates are being given the opportunity to do internship in various government departments, government engineering colleges, government polytechnic institutes, educational institutions, corporations and other government institutions.In these institutes, youth get practical experience of working in administrative and technical fields including laboratory assistant, library assistant, data entry operator, social media management, finance, human resources, Hindi typing etc.Working with experienced officers and experts gives the youth a chance to understand the real work environment.Stipend facility along with internshipUnder this scheme, youth in the age group of 18 to 28 years are given the opportunity of internship for a period ranging from three months to one year.Candidates from 12th to post-graduation level are being provided a stipend ranging from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 per month as per their educational qualification.Apart from this, youth who do internship in a district other than their home district are given additional assistance of Rs 2,000 per month for the initial three months and a lump sum amount of Rs 5,000.If a candidate does internship in other states outside Bihar, then this assistance amount is provided to him/her in his/her bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) during the entire internship period.On completion of the internship period, a joint certificate is also given by Bihar Skill Development Mission and the concerned department.The state government has set a target of providing internships to a total of 105,000 youth under this scheme over the next five years. The Chief Minister's Pledge Internship Scheme is proving to be an important initiative towards empowering Bihar's youth to become self-reliant and providing them with better employment opportunities.
