The news captured the netizen’s eye, and sure enough, videos started surfacing. Apart from the good natured story, many started questioning the idea of halting a freight goods train that could disrupt several services. From Sarwaha village between Barkakana and Hazaribagh, Engineering departments of both the forest and rail worked hand in hand to protect the trunkated creature. It was reported that the train was stopped with right amount of warning signals. Surprisingly, the forest officers were able to escort the whole village in about 30 minutes, not long before a special unit was able to assist the poor mother fully.Making life easier are the locals as well as lookout branches as they managed to position ladders allowing the under trunk raised themselves to climb. The moment life was given, not only did it end the passengers wait but they also ended up being given the gift of a ‘new life’. The people around were not the only ones to appreciate this, instead the villagers were also extremely joyous seeing the little elephant soaring to new heights.Social media captured an incident on June 25 that quickly gained popularity. “Our forest guard alerted me at 3 am that a pregnant elephant was in labour and needed help. The guard said if the movement of trains was not stopped, there was a possibility of the elephant getting crushed,” Ramgarh DFO Nitish Kumar said to PTI. As Kumar reported, he spoke with the Barkakana railway control room. There, instructions were issued to suspend train movement until after the elephant gave birth. A freight train had been halted, with the subsequent train subsequently stopped. Therefore, the pregnant elephant was able to give birth while the train was halted. Officials were seen in the viral video along with the mother and calf on railway tracks. People nearby assisted both animals. Following this, the mother and calf were brought back to the herd within the forest. After the delivery, the elephant along with her baby was safely moved to the designated elephant corridor forest. The video in question has stirred quite a rave on the Internet. Many people are praising the life affirming decision captured in the video. As Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav indicated, he has also shared its video on social media X. As he was sharing the video, he remarked that the really striking part of the video is that while humans are often portrayed in conflict with animals, this time around, we are looking at a truly remarkable act of kindness from humans and coexistence with wildlife.

Beyond the news of human-animal conflicts, happy to share this example of human-animal harmonious existence.

A train in Jharkhand waited for two hours as an elephant delivered her calf.
