The flood situation in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district has taken a dramatic turn for the worse, entering its ninth consecutive day as relentless water level surges in the Saryu and Rapti rivers severely impact local communities. The unfolding crisis triggered immediate panic on Wednesday when a small transport boat ferrying officials and villagers capsized near the shore in Jaitpur village within the Barhalganj floodplain.
