
Just in time for the festive season, the central government has announced some good news for many of its employees. A non-productivity linked bonus, which is equivalent to 30 days of pay, has been approved for the financial year 2024-25.This ad-hoc bonus is intended for Central Government employees in Group 'C' and all non-gazetted employees in Group 'B' who are not part of any productivity-linked bonus programsThe benefit also extends to personnel in the Central Para-Military and Armed Forces.Who is eligible for the bonus?To receive this bonus, an employee must have been in service as of March 31, 2025, with at least six months of continuous service within that year. For those who have worked for more than six months but less than a full year, a pro-rata payment will be madeThe decision also includes casual laborers who have worked for at least 240 days a year for three or more yearsHow the bonus is calculatedThere's a cap on the calculation; the maximum monthly salary considered for the bonus is₹7,000. Based on the official formula, this works out to a maximum bonus amount of₹6,908. For eligible casual laborers, the bonus amount is set at₹1,184This yearly announcement by the Department of Expenditure is a welcome move that will provide lakhs of government employees with some extra financial relief during the festival season.[
