Haryana Government Announces Bumper Subsidies for Sugarcane Farmers to Boost Modern Farming and Mechanization

In a major move to empower the agricultural community and modernize traditional crop management, the government of हरियाणा has rolled out an exclusive financial assistance scheme for the 2026-27 fiscal year. Spearheaded by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department under the "Sugarcane Technology Objectives Project," the initiative aims to encourage cultivators across major sugarcane-producing belts to embrace advanced technological methods, high-yield seed varieties, and modern machinery through lucrative financial grants and subsidies.Target Districts and Advanced Sowing Techniques Covered Under the SchemeThe newly introduced subsidy program is specifically tailored for sugarcane growers residing in prominent agricultural hubs, including Yamunanagar, Naraingarh, Shahabad, Karnal, Assandh, Bhadso, Panipat, Kaithal, Rohtak, Sonipat, Jind, Palwal, Bhuna, Gohana, and Meham. Under this initiative, financial support will be extended to farmers adopting cutting-edge and scientifically proven cultivation techniques. These include wide-row sowing at four-foot intervals, advanced single-bud and bud-chip planting methods, establishment of foundation seed nurseries, rigorous seed treatments, and efficient four-foot ratoon management systems designed to maximize crop yield and quality.Generous Subsidies on Essential Modern Agricultural EquipmentTo tackle labor shortages and accelerate farm mechanization, the Haryana government is also offering heavy subsidies on a wide array of specialized sugarcane machinery and agricultural equipment. Eligible farmers can avail financial assistance on the purchase of sugarcane set treatment devices, power weeders, ratoon managers, heavy-duty rotavators, tractor-driven sprayers, sub-soilers, advanced sugarcane cutters, strippers, planters, and mini tractors, significantly reducing the capital investment required for high-tech farm operations.Important Deadlines and Online Application ProcessFarmers who completed spring or summer sugarcane sowing after the month of April are eligible to submit their subsidy applications online until September 30. Meanwhile, cultivators planning to undertake autumn sugarcane sowing during the upcoming October-November season can apply between October 1 and December 31. Interested farmers can conveniently complete their registration and submit applications by visiting the official web portal of the Agriculture Department at agriharyana.gov.in before the respective deadlines lapse.
