In Gurugram, public feedback will determine the position of SHO, and a report card will be prepared

In a major administrative overhaul aimed at transforming grassroots policing and enhancing public accountability, गुरुग्राम Police Commissioner Shibas Kaviraj has issued a strict new decree regarding the posting and performance evaluation of Station House Officers (SHOs). Moving away from conventional metrics, the assignment and retention of station in-charges across the city will now be directly determined by ground-level public feedback, proactive crime control efficacy, and the rigorous quality of criminal investigations.Monthly Report Cards and Strict Accountability for CorruptionUnder the newly instituted framework, a comprehensive monthly report card will be generated for every SHO. This performance dossier will evaluate response times, public satisfaction, crime suppression, and investigation standards. If an officer's performance falls short, they face immediate removal from field duties. Furthermore, the Police Commissioner has established zero tolerance for corruption or misconduct: if complaints of misbehavior or graft surface against subordinate personnel, direct accountability will be pinned on the SHO. Officers who unnecessarily harass complainants or drag victims back and forth to the station will face immediate removal and severe departmental disciplinary action under close monitoring by respective ACPs and DCPs.Revamping Night Policing, DCP Monitoring, and High-Visibility PatrolsTo secure the urban landscape, law enforcement operations are being tightened across all zones. DCP-rank officers will now personally monitor area-wise special night patrolling across Gurugram every single night, while ACP-rank officers will maintain round-the-clock supervision inside the police control room. Visible police presence is being aggressively scaled up across designated crime hotspots, commercial markets, industrial hubs, bus terminals, and railway transit points. Additionally, authorities have mandated the active use of body-worn cameras during alcohol screening checkpoints and regular traffic patrols to ensure complete transparency.Monthly Recognition and Rewarding Top-Performing SHOsBalancing strict accountability with positive reinforcement, the department has introduced a "Best SHO of the Month" award to honor officers who demonstrate exceptional leadership, stellar crime resolution rates, and high public satisfaction scores. During the high-level crime review meeting—attended by all DCPs, ACPs, and crime branch heads—comprehensive directives were also issued to expedite pending case disposals, clamp down on drug trafficking and cybercrime, strengthen women and child safety protocols, and streamline the city's traffic management systems.
