India on High Alert: IMD Warns of Intense Rainfall and Red Alerts for Multiple Regions
IMD Alert: Thanks to monsoon Pouring rains along with intense lightning activity is expected for the forthcoming days in several regions of the country. As the Meteorological department informs that the monsoon trough is nearing to its optimal position. A low pressure zone persists situated over northwest Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan. In addition to this, several weather systems from the Arabian sea to the North East is actively pouring. Because of this, severe rainfall is highly likely in Rajasthan today. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will also experience severe rainfall, and Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are expected to experience heavy rains on July 29 and August 3. Rainfall is also anticipated in the ghat regions of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Good rainfall is anticipated in the Konkan and Saurashtra regions along with Kutch as well.Middle of Meghalaya in Northeast India is set to possibly receive very heavy rainfall today. Along with Meghalaya, heavy to very heavy rains will also be expected in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam till August 3. Weighing rains will be experienced in the southwestern region of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Between August 3, a considerable precipitation will be expected in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. The low pressure area will move from south of Delhi to north-east.” The maximum temperature recorded on Monday was 35.6, which is 2.6 degrees higher than the seasonal average. The Meteorological Department reported that light rain was received in certain areas of Delhi, while the minimum temperature was 28.4 degrees Celsius which is 1.1 degrees above normal. The Meteorological DepartmentRed alert issued for severe floods in various regions of RajasthanWaterlogging was reported in several districts of Rajasthan such as Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Kota, Pali, and even Sirohi due to heavy rainfall. As reported, the dams constructed over the Chambal, Kalisindh and Banas rivers had to release water because the rivers were above normal water levels.On Monday evening, there were unprecedented showers in the capital city Jaipur, which resulted in the inundation of several low-lying regions. People also faced some degree of inconvenience because of congestion in the major thoroughfares of the city. Keeping in mind the forecast of impending heavy rainfall, the administration has already announced a holiday for schools in 11 districts which include Jhalawar, Kota, Chittorgarh, Tonk, Bhilwara, Baran, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Salumber, Banswara and Ajmer. Today, the Meteorological Center Jaipur has also issued a very heavy rainfall red alert in 3 districts, an orange alert for heavy rains in 5 districts and a yellow alert in 19 districts. It seems that all the districts will be forecasted to receive light to moderate showers starting August 2.
