Jaiswal's Half-Century and Dropped Catches Propel India to Lead Over England in Series Finale

New Delhi: The second day of the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at The Oval witnessed another spirited fightback from India, as they came to the bat trailing England by 23 runs. Having been bowled out for 224, India’s bowlers managed to keep the hosts to 247, which gave England a narrow first-innings lead of only 23 runs. The Englishers were powered forward by sizable contributions from Harry Brook, and Zak Crawley, along with a dominating opening stand of 92 between Crawley and Ben Duckett. Defensively, India went to bat with a strong approach, and the pair of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna tearing through the English batting lineup, both claiming 4 wickets. While Krishna's success came from his mix of sharp and back-of-a-length deliveries, Siraj's seam movement earned him 3 LBWs and 1 clean bowled. In the pursuing of the target, India’s second innings featured an explosive knock of 51 not out from Yashasvi Jaiswal off 49 balls. Jaiswal’s innings, however, was aided by some generous English fielding including two drops.
