Jammu and Kashmir Government Vows to Eradicate Terrorism, Ramps Up Security Measures

Following a series of terrorist attacks, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a high-level meeting with senior officials from the civil and police administration to review and fortify the security arrangements across the Union Territory. The meeting emphasized a renewed commitment to creating a "terror-free" Jammu and Kashmir through enhanced coordination and decisive action against militants and their supporters.During the comprehensive security assessment, Lieutenant Governor Sinha asserted that the fight against terrorism in the region is at a critical juncture. He directed the security forces and administrative officials to adopt a "360-degree approach" to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem. He made it unequivocally clear that those responsible for recent heinous attacks, along with their accomplices, will face severe punishment.The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for seamless collaboration between all security agencies to replicate the successful anti-terror strategies implemented in the Kashmir valley across the entire Union Territory. A key directive was the implementation of a "zero terror plan" and continuous monitoring of the security landscape to neutralize any emerging threats proactively.In addition to tactical security measures, the meeting also addressed the challenge of misinformation. Sinha called for a robust strategy to counter the spread of fake news and false narratives that aim to disrupt peace and stability.Highlighting a community-focused approach, the Lieutenant Governor underscored the importance of engaging with the youth. He instructed the police and district administrations to prioritize creating self-employment opportunities for young people, aiming to steer them away from paths of radicalization.Officials were also instructed to maintain a high level of vigilance and preparedness for the winter season. The Lieutenant Governor commended the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their professionalism and dedication to protecting the nation's integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens.This high-stakes meeting was prompted by recent violent incidents, including a tragic attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi, which resulted in nine fatalities and 41 injuries. In response, the investigation into the Reasi attack has been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The central government is also taking a direct role, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently holding meetings to review security, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage.The meeting in Srinagar was attended by top officials, including the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, reflecting the administration's serious and coordinated effort to restore and maintain peace.
