Japan's Next-Gen Bullet Train Unveiled: Meet the E10 Shinkansen – Faster, Smarter, and Sleeker!
New Bullet Train: The Ministry of Railways had on Monday made a few announcements regarding the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train. The Ministry also reported that the Government of Japan has permitted the use of E10 Shinkansen trains on the 508 km stretch. As per the information received by the government, the E5 series Shinkansen used for the bullet train is already operational, and E10 will be newer generation. The Railway Ministry has confirmed, “As part of the allied initiative between India and Japan, the Government of Japan has permitted inclusion of E10 Shinkansen trains in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullllet Train project.E10 Train Advanced Technology DeploymentJapan’s E10 bullet Trrains will be equipped with the paradigmatic brand new and advanced technology. In commercial mode, the top operational speed of this new flagship train will be 320 kmph, and during testing, 400 kmph. If all goes according to plan, we expect the trains to operate domestically at 320 km per hour. Additionally, there will be earthquake resistant rail technology as well. The train will also be equipped with L-shaped guides with lateral dampers which will greatly reduce the chances of derailment.As reported, the E10 bullet train's braking system is undergoing enhancements which will decrease the emergency stopping distance by 15%. When does the E10 bullet train go into service? The E10 is an upgrade from the E5 and offers improved safety features, cutting-edge technology, and convenience. The modern facilities are meant to enhance the passenger experience. The train will feature a 2 + 2 seating arrangement with greater leg space, privacy shields, and might offer Wi-Fi along with USB charging ports at every seat. The prototype is expected to be ready by October 2027, followed by a trial run from 2027 to 2029. Commercial service is scheduled for 2030 in both Japan and India.
