Kabul Threatens Retaliation Following Violation of Sovereignty by Pakistan Air Force

The diplomatic and military tensions between the neighboring nations have escalated sharply after the Taliban administration issued a severe warning to the Pakistan Army following air strikes in the border provinces. The interim government in Afghanistan has condemned the recent aerial bombardment by the Pakistan Air Force in Paktika Khost and Kunar provinces describing it as a flagrant violation of international laws and an assault on Afghan sovereignty. In a strong statement issued on social media the chief spokesperson for the Taliban government Zabiullah Mujahid termed the attacks as an aggression against the territorial integrity of Afghanistan and declared that they would give a befitting reply to Pakistan at the right time. The statement criticized the Pakistani military leadership accusing them of covering up their own domestic failures and relying on flawed intelligence to conduct operations that target civilians under the pretext of security. Kabul emphasized that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers the protection of its airspace and citizens as a legitimate right and will not remain silent in the face of such hostilities. Reports indicate that the air strikes were launched by Pakistan allegedly to target hideouts of the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan but the Afghan authorities claim that these attacks often result in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure causing outrage among the local population. This war of words marks a new low in the relationship between the two traditional allies as the Taliban government refuses to accept Islamabad's justification for the cross border incursions and threatens military retribution if the aggression continues.
