Spiritual scholar Pandit Gangadhar Mishra of Gurudham stated that the festive period officially starts following Mahalaya on October 10, with the sacred Kalash Sthapana scheduled for October 11. Maha Ashtami rituals will span across October 18 and 19, allowing devotees to present their ritual daala baskets throughout the day. Fasting devotees will officially conclude their vrat after 8:10 AM on October 19, leading into the Mahanavami sacred havan on October 20 and culminating in grand Vijayadashami celebrations on October 21.Goddess Durga's Auspicious Arrival on an Elephant and Local Committee MobilizationAccording to traditional Vedic belief, Goddess Durga’s transit this year features both her arrival and departure aboard an elephant (Gaja vahana). Ground preparations are moving forward rapidly to celebrate the divine presence. Sachchidanand Tiwari, president of the Vijaynagar Durga Puja Committee, highlighted that more than 200 consecrated pandals and idol installations are being set up across the district, with dedicated neighborhood panels being finalized to handle crowd movements, ritual logistics, and devotional gatherings.Mandatory Fire Safety Protocols and Standard Guidelines for Puja PandalsAddressing the widespread installation of festive structures, the Bihar Fire Service has issued comprehensive safety directives to prevent untoward incidents during the festivities. Fire Department DSP Vinay Tiwari emphasized that pandal builders must use fabrics treated with fire-retardant chemicals and place at least one nine-liter fire extinguisher per 100 square meters of floor area. Structures must be erected at least 15 meters away from railway tracks, electrical substations, and furnaces, with a four-to-five-meter clear perimeter and a minimum of three spacious emergency exits. Pandal authorities are strictly ordered to install dedicated MCB circuit breakers, eliminate naked wiring or hazardous halogen fixtures, position havan kunds outside primary tents, prohibit smoking, and contact 101 immediately in the event of an emergency.
