
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The protest by the saints and family of Mahant Devanand of Kota Chandrasheel Math, outside the mortuary on Saturday, June 6, concerning his murder has been called off. This came after an agreement was signed with the administration. Several hours of talks finally produced concrete assurances regarding the most important demands of the family and the saint community. As a result, the body of the Mahant was taken to his ancestral home by the family.According to ADM City, Vinod Kumar Malhotra, three main demands were put forth by the saints and family protesting outside the mortuary. First, that a SIT should be formed and that the murder case should be investigated thoroughly under the guidance of experienced officials. Second, that a city college should be named after Mahant Devanand. The third and final demand was that a chhatri (memorial) should be erected in the Mahant’s honor.The demands of the saints were assuredAfter assurances from the administration that their demands would be looked into, taking necessary legal action, and sending a proposal to the higher levels of the government, the saints and family came to a consensus. This was followed by an end to the ongoing protest outside the mortuary. After the protest ended, the body of Mahant Devanand was first paid tribute by the saints and family and then taken to his native home for cremation.The people of the locality are very upset with the killing of the Mahant and demands for an impartial investigation into the case are gaining momentum. The saints and sadhus have expressed their anger and refused to collect the body till the murderers are caught. When informed about the incident senior police and administration officials had rushed to the scene.
