Chandigarh: The traditional Lohri festival was celebrated with great pomp at the Punjab Lok Bhawan. The event was hosted by Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Punjab Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Harjot Singh Bains and Sanjeev Arora, Rajya Sabha members Dr. Ashok Mittal and Sardar Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chandigarh Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, Chandigarh Chief Secretary H. Rajesh Prasad and senior officers of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh administration were present at the function.Extending Lohri greetings, the Governor highlighted the cultural and social significance of the festival. He said that such celebrations promote mutual harmony, strengthen social unity, and help preserve our civilizational values.The cultural program presented by the North Zone Cultural Center (NZCC) featured captivating performances of folk dances and songs associated with Lohri. The lawns of the Punjab Lok Bhawan were decorated in the style of a traditional heritage village, further enlivening the festive atmosphere.During the ceremony, the heroic saga of Punjabi folk hero Dulla Bhatti (Rai Abdullah Khan Bhatti) was also remembered with reverence and pride.A dinner was also hosted for the dignitaries and invitees on the occasion. The Governor extended his best wishes for peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on the auspicious occasion of Lohri.
