Mahmood Madani : Muslims Cannot Worship Other Goddesses, Vande Mataram' is Not Permissible

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Mahmood Madani has stated that for Muslims, worshipping goddesses other than their own is not permissible, and therefore, singing "Vande Mataram" is unacceptable. Speaking at the Jamiat's 'Sadbhavna Sansad' (Goodwill Parliament) event, Madani emphasized that while his organization and the Muslims of the country do not have animosity towards anyone, they cannot compromise on their fundamental beliefs.Madani's remarks come amid ongoing debates surrounding religious identity and nationalism in India. He asserted that compelling Muslims to sing "Vande Mataram" is against the principles of both the constitution and Islam. He clarified that their opposition is not to the song itself but to the act of worship it entails, which contradicts their monotheistic faith. "We can bow our heads only to the one God who created us," he declared, reiterating that this is a core tenet of their faith. The Jamiat leader stressed that Muslims are staunch patriots and do not require any certificate of nationalism. "We were born in this country, our ancestors are from here, and we will be buried here," Madani stated, affirming their deep connection to India. He expressed that Muslims have made significant sacrifices for the nation's freedom and that their loyalty should not be questioned. He called for mutual respect among communities, urging that while others have the freedom to follow their beliefs, the same respect should be extended to Muslims. Madani also condemned the targeting of the Muslim community, stating that creating an atmosphere of hate is detrimental to the nation. He warned against forcing any community into a corner, suggesting that such actions would harm the country's unity. The 'Sadbhavna Sansad' was attended by religious leaders from various faiths, including Jain, Hindu, Sikh, and Christian communities, who echoed the call for peace and communal harmony.
