Manufactured Terrorism: KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Accuses Pakistan Government of Staging Attacks

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has made stunning allegations against the Pakistan government, accusing it of deliberately fostering instability in the province through a flawed and manipulative counter-terrorism policy. In a scathing critique, Afridi claimed that the resurgence of terrorism in the region is a direct result of the central government's own "flawed policy" and that it benefits from "fake" or staged terrorist attacks.Afridi, a leader from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserted that powerful elements in Islamabad are "manufacturing terrorism" to serve their political agenda rather than ensuring the welfare of the people He stated, “The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are fed up with this self-made terrorism and decisions made behind closed doors, decisions that have been imposed on us for years.”This statement comes amid a significant increase in violence in the northwestern province bordering Afghanistan. The Chief Minister also accused the federal government of actively derailing peace initiatives. He condemned the recent abduction of members of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) who attended a provincial "Peace Jirga" (an assembly of elders to resolve disputes), describing it as a deliberate attempt by the central government to sabotage peace talks. "The mindset that has dominated Pakistan for 71 years and never wanted peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has proven, through the abduction of our guests, that this terrorism is completely fabricated," Afridi remarkedFurthermore, he alleged that the federal government is withholding crucial funds allocated to the province for fighting terrorism, which undermines the capability of the local police. Afridi argued that these anti-terror policies are made "behind closed doors" without consulting regional leaders and that military operations have been used as a pretext to target innocent civilians
