More than 1300 officers and employees will be fired from their jobs, the government issued a notice, this is the reason behind this decision

Kuala Lumpur: Under the new restructuring plan initiated by the Trump administration this year, the US State Department is laying off more than 1,300 employees. As of Friday, one senior official stated that the department will be issuing layoff notices to 1,107 administrators and 246 foreign service officers based out of the US. The foreign service officers impacted by this decision will be placed on a transitional status of administrative leave for four months after which they will officially be separated from the organization, according to an internal notification provided to The Associated Press. For the majority of the affected civil servants, this timeline is shortened to two months. An excerpt from the notice said "in regard to the departmental reorganization... the department is streamlining domestic operations and prioritizing beyond the borders of the US." Current and former diplomats have vehemently opposed what the Trump administration considers an efficiency move. These diplomats claim that the changes will greatly diminish the ability of the United States to influence geopolitical factors, and strengthen the country's capacity to deal with ongoing and anticipated global challenges.
