Under this scheme, the people of the state are going to receive a major gift. The people living in the Shekhawati region will now be able to benefit from the Yamuna Water Project, which has been pending for nearly 30 years.A major meeting is being held at Kartavya Bhavan in Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah , Union Water Power Minister C.R. Patil, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and senior officials from both states will be present. What is the Yamuna Water AgreementThe Yamuna Water Agreement, signed on May 12, 1994, was a major initiative by the central government. It was a water-sharing agreement between the states of the Yamuna basin. Under this agreement, Rajasthan was granted a 10.4 percent share of the Yamuna River's available water. According to the agreement, Rajasthan is entitled to approximately 577 million cubic meters (MCM) of water each year.Water will be supplied through pipelineAccording to reports, work on the ground will begin soon after the MoU between Rajasthan and Haryana is to be signed in Delhi today. A pipeline-based system will be developed to transport Yamuna water from Haryana to the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. The two states are currently reaching agreement on the technical and financial implementation of the project. This pipeline will be laid underground from the Hathni Kund Barrage in Haryana to Rajasthan. A major reason for this pipeline-based system is that it will eliminate the need for land acquisition and will also alleviate the problems of evaporation and leakage losses. It's worth noting that Rajasthan and Haryana reached an agreement on the Yamuna Water Project in 1994. However, no ground-level efforts were successful in implementing the project, and the project remained confined to paper for nearly three decades. But now, efforts have begun to ensure that the benefits of this project reach every household.
