
Mumbai seems to be facing one of the worst monsoon disruptions as non-stop rains have engulfed the city since Saturday morning. The India Meteorological Department has already put a red alert mark for the city on August 16 for extremely heavy rainfall as they predict the same conditions up to August 19. The monsoon should relatively be cool as the maximum and minimum temperatures should be around 28 and 23 degrees respectively.Flooded areas in MumbaiAs non-stop rainfall continues, parts of Mumbai and King’s Circle are submerged. Other localities like the Gandhi Market, Andheri Subway, Kurla, Chembur, Milan Subway and SCLR bridge are also experiencing extreme water logging. This extreme water logging has not only worsened the commute for the daily wage workers, it has crippled the entire metropolitan city’s function.Mumbai police gave directional advice to the locals telling them to not travel unless necessary, this to avoid poor visibility, water logging and high winds. Considering the circumstances, Mumbaikers should avoid going out as there have been several calls made for emergencies and the 100/112/103 helpline has becoming less reliable to reach out to.The Doctors of Bhabha Munbai also asserted their appeals from the global warming perspective telling locals to not travel as the floods worsened drastically and there has been heavy current submerged water. Revealing the sheer predicament, Bhabha Munbai, the locals could also get stuck on the subway.According to meteorological sources, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea before August 19 due to the impending sea agitation, rains, and associated safety and navigational concerns. During this period, citizens are also advised not to visit the beaches or the coast.Heavy Rainfall Predicted for Nearby AreasThe IMD also warns the citizens of Maharashtra to not step outside their homes for the next four days as the IMD issues alerts for the Than, Palghar, and Raigad district as well. Raigad is under the highest warning as the district is expected to receive isolated incidences of rainfall and thunderstorms. The entire Konkan as well as parts of central Maharashtra are also expected to be struck by lightning along with winds of 30-40km/h.
