What’s more interesting is why such a decision was made. This announcement was made by the US company Japan Airlines. In an announcement, the airline expressed that international passengers coming to their country will be offered complimentary flights to lesser-known tourist destinations. Japan Airlines (JAL) disclosed its policy that it will offer all such tourists free one-way flights to any one of sixty points of interest provided they booked their roundtrip tickets with the airline. According to the company, this is not to entice customers but rather to help ensure that travel is made easy.What is the reason behind such an announcementSo that foreign tourists do not have to burden the major cities, Japan Airlines has made such an announcement. The number of foreign tourists coming to Japan is increasing every year. In 2024 alone, Japan was being visited by 3.69 crore tourists, which is an increase of 47 percent from the previous year. Interestingly, a majority of these tourists milled about the major cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. Both the locals and the visitors had to endure a lot of overcrowding due to the local people and the tourists, and as such, faced quite a lot of trouble. As a result, it is for this reason that Japan Airlines is giving free air travel to escort tourists to other tourist spots not frequented by tourists.Japan’s countryside is exceptionally picturesque. Japan Airlines reports that the rural population in the area is declining at a rapid pace. Although the number of tourists coming to these places is on the decline, offbeat destinations like Niigata and Miyazaki are exceptionally nice and offer great experiences to those who visit. The airline mentioned that for those travelers who open their itineraries to include Haneda and Narita, onward flights to Saparo, Fukuoka, and Naha will be offered at no additional charge. Which countries’ people will benefit As per the statement from Japan Airlines, this initiative targets foreign tourists arriving from India, America, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the opinion of Japan Airlines, tourists from other countries not part of the program will still benefit. Provided such travelers purchase their tickets on this airline, their travel expenses would be cheaper than traveling on a high-speed bullet train. Participants in this program would be required to book all their flights solely through Japan Airlines, only then would they qualify for free internal travel within the country.
