NCRTC to Secure Modipuram Bus Stand Land by Diwali as Bhudbaral Hub Construction Begins

In a decisive breakthrough aimed at permanently unclogging Meerut’s core urban arterials, the long-anticipated relocation of the historic Roadways Bhainsali bus stand from central Delhi Road to peripheral transit hubs at Bhudbaral and Modipuram has entered its final administrative phase. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has formally taken title possession of the required land parcel at Bhudbaral, with official land revenue records now registered under the transport body's name. Concurrently, the Meerut district administration confirmed that the parallel acquisition process for the Modipuram bus terminal is virtually complete, with physical handover scheduled to take place before Diwali upon the remittance of ₹44 crore in statutory land compensation to project-affected titleholders.₹99-Crore Land Acquisition Across Four Villages: Bhudbaral Handed Over, Modipuram Awaits PayoutThe comprehensive decentralization blueprint encompasses the acquisition of roughly 40,000 square meters of prime real estate spread across the villages of Bhudbaral, Palhaira, Dulhera, and Sivaya. For the Bhudbaral facility, the district revenue authority acquired 28,507 square meters directly adjacent to Namo Bharat’s Shatabdinagar RapidX station, formally transferring title deeds after disbursing ₹55 crore in compensation across 95 agrarian families. For the Modipuram transit complex, a total of 11,848 square meters has been demarcated, with land acquisition awards finalized for roughly 100 individual plot holders. Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition) Naveen Chandra confirmed that the NCRTC has committed to releasing the required ₹44-crore compensation fund within two to three days, paving the way for swift registry mutation and site handover in less than a week.Relocating 400 Daily Buses from Delhi Road: Bhudbaral Terminal Targets November 2027 CommissioningCurrently, more than 400 long-distance intercity buses arriving daily from Uttarakhand, Delhi, and adjoining Uttar Pradesh districts terminate at the congested Bhainsali depot on Delhi Road, creating persistent gridlocks and severe peak-hour bottlenecks in the heart of the city. Under the dual-terminal relocation plan, the NCRTC will construct modern, integrated multi-modal bus stations at both peripheral outposts before handing operational reins back to the state roadways corporation. NCRTC Public Relations Officer Puneet Vats stated that civil construction tenders for both bus hubs have already been finalized, setting an operational delivery deadline of November 2027 for the Bhudbaral bus stand, while a formal project completion timeline for the Modipuram facility will be finalized as soon as the Diwali land transfer concludes.
