
The National Highways Authority of India has issued a critical alert regarding the FASTag system used on national highways across the country Starting from the first of February NHAI will discontinue and deactivate all FASTags that do not have updated Know Your Customer details This significant move is part of the One Vehicle One FASTag initiative aimed at streamlining electronic toll collection and preventing the misuse of tags Users who have multiple FASTags for a single vehicle or have not completed their KYC documentation must take action before the deadline to avoid being blacklisted Once a tag is deactivated the vehicle owner may be required to pay double the toll fee in cash at plazas until a valid and updated tag is obtained To ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted travel people are advised to visit the official portal of their respective banks or use the NHAI mobile application to verify their status Documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards along with the vehicle registration certificate are necessary for the verification process This update is designed to improve transparency and efficiency in highway travel while reducing congestion at toll booths through a single verified identification for every car on the road
