Hyderabad, India - Veteran Telugu film actor and comedian Fish Venkat has passed away at the age of 53. The actor, whose real name was Venkat Raj, succumbed to complications arising from kidney and liver failure on July 18, 2025, in Hyderabad.Fish Venkat had been hospitalized and receiving treatment for his deteriorating health, including dialysis, before his condition worsened and he was placed on ventilator support.Doctors had recommended a kidney transplant, but suitable donors and financial resources were not secured in time.Known for his distinctive Telangana dialect and impeccable comedic timing, Fish Venkat carved a niche for himself in the Telugu film industry. He acted in over 100 films, becoming a familiar face in comedic and often villainous supporting roles. His career began after being introduced by filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao in the movie “Sammakka Sarakka.” Some of his memorable performances were in hit films such as "Kushi," "Bunny," "Adhurs," "Gabbar Singh," and the more recent "DJ Tillu. His unique nickname, "Fish," reportedly originated from a humorous scene involving a fish market.His passing has sent ripples of grief through the Telugu film fraternity, with many remembering him for the laughter and joy he brought to audiences.
