Prayagraj officials must ensure the immediate draining of water from inundated areas using pumps, as well as sanitation and the prevention of communicable diseases: Keshav Prasad Maurya

Keshav Prasad Maurya directed the Chief Development Officer of Prayagraj, Block Development Officers, and other officials from the Rural Development Department to maintain continuous monitoring of the district's waterlogged and inundated areas. In areas where water has accumulated, immediate arrangements—such as the installation of pumps—must be made to drain the water; this ensures that public movement is not hindered and that other issues arising from waterlogging can be managed in a timely manner. In the event of a disaster or waterlogging, the administration's primary responsibility is to provide immediate relief to affected individuals and swiftly restore normalcy to public life. Negligence or unnecessary delays at any level will not be tolerated. Issues faced by the general public in rural areas must be resolved promptly at the local level. Officials should visit the field to inspect the actual situation rather than merely fulfilling the formality of preparing reports from their offices. Complaints and issues received at the Gram Panchayat, Development Block, and district levels must be reviewed regularly, and the status of their resolution monitored; problems related to roads, drains, drinking water, electricity, sanitation, and transportation must be addressed on a priority basis.In view of the risk of Dengue, Malaria, and other vector-borne diseases following waterlogging, Mr. Maurya has directed that sanitation and health campaigns be conducted through multi-departmental coordination: immediately after water drainage, comprehensive cleaning and the regular spraying of lime, insecticides, and anti-larval agents must be mandatorily carried out in the affected areas. The supply of clean drinking water must be ensured in both rural and urban areas, and special teams from the Health Department must remain on high alert. The public should be made aware of how to protect themselves against mosquito-borne diseases and the importance of seeking immediate medical assistance upon noticing early symptoms.
