The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched a strict regulatory crackdown on food safety violations, ordering CG Foods India Pvt Ltd to immediately halt the production of its 'Veg Bhujia Namkeen' line at its manufacturing unit in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Following a surprise inspection, the apex food safety regulator uncovered severe hygiene lapses, unlicensed manufacturing activities, and improper packaging practices, raising serious concerns regarding public health and consumer safety.Shocking Inspection Revelations: Unlicensed Production and Unsanitary ConditionsActing on rigorous food safety protocols, FSSAI officials conducted a comprehensive inspection of the company's manufacturing facility located in Rupangarh, Ajmer. The inspection exposed alarming violations of standard operating procedures, including broken noodle fragments gathered directly from the factory floor being reprocessed into bhujia without mandatory heat treatment. Furthermore, investigators discovered that finished products were being stamped with incorrect packaging dates.The regulatory body noted that the unauthorized production of 'Wai-Wai Mama' and 'Wai-Wai Mama Punte' bhujia varieties violated Section 31(1) of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act, 2006. Compounding these infractions, the facility completely lacked pest control records and failed to meet basic hygiene, sanitation, and documentation norms.Massive Seizure of 32,000 KG Stock and Expired GoodsTo prevent compromised food products from entering consumer markets, the FSSAI seized a staggering 32,107.2 kilograms of illicit stock, which included loose broken noodles and raw materials. Additionally, authorities confiscated 1,925 boxes of expired finished goods found on the premises. Formal food samples have been dispatched for rigorous laboratory testing, and the regulator has initiated strict legal proceedings against the management, directing them to cease all unapproved manufacturing operations immediately.
