In a major push to expand international trade horizons for local manufacturers, the Punjab government is actively forging direct economic partnerships with the United Arab Emirates. Moving beyond traditional investment attraction, state Industry and Commerce Minister Aman Arora spearheaded high-level discussions with representatives from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry alongside the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC). The strategic dialogue focused on unlocking lucrative opportunities in joint ventures, bilateral exports, technical collaboration, and expanded market access, positioning Punjab's industrial sector for unprecedented global integration.Invest Punjab and the UAE Gateway to Middle Eastern MarketsUnder the newly formulated initiative, the state's investment promotion bureau, "Invest Punjab," will act as the core bridge connecting manufacturers, exporters, and service providers from Punjab with over 3,000 industrial units in Sharjah. Capitalizing on the strategic frameworks of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the partnership aims to establish Sharjah as a vital gateway for Punjab-based businesses looking to penetrate deeper into Middle Eastern and international export markets. During the deliberations, Minister Aman Arora invited the Sharjah business community to visit Punjab, highlighting the state's recent pro-business regulatory reforms, simplified compliance structures, and world-class investor facilitation portals designed to streamline operations from pre-investment to post-implementation.Robust Industrial Infrastructure and Fast-Track Investor SupportHighlighting the immense scope of the collaboration, officials noted that Sharjah boasts a robust industrial network comprising more than 3,000 manufacturing units, seven specialized free zones, and 18 dedicated industrial zones. To ensure seamless execution, Amit Dhaka, CEO of Invest Punjab, detailed the state's industrial policies and showcased the "Fast-Track Punjab" portal, which provides investors with streamlined single-point access to regulatory approvals.
