A chilling case of voyeurism and organized extortion has rocked Gujarat's medical community. A homeopathic doctor, identified as Kamal Nandha, has been booked for allegedly planting a hidden camera in a fellow practitioner’s clinic on Sadhu Vaswani Road. What began as a twisted act of surveillance turned into a massive blackmail racket involving local journalists and an extortion demand of ₹25 lakh. The Blueprint of Betrayal: A Hidden Camera in a Lamp HolderThe accused, who holds a BHMS degree, exploited his professional relationship with the victim—an Ayurveda practitioner—to gain access to the premises. Under the guise of referring patients, Nandha allegedly installed a high-tech spy camera inside a lamp holder in the examination room. Investigators reveal that the primary target was a woman acquaintance of the complainant who also used the clinic space.3,000 to 4,000 Private Videos RecoveredThe scale of the privacy breach is staggering. Between 2023 and mid-2024, the hidden device recorded nearly 4,000 video clips. These included:Intimate moments between the complainant and his acquaintance.Highly sensitive footage of unsuspecting patients being examined.Daily private activities within the doctor's cabin. Police suspect the accused was motivated by a personal infatuation with the woman and used the footage to confirm his suspicions about her relationship with the victim. The Blackmail Syndicate: Role of 12 Local 'Scribes'The crime took a darker turn in June 2024 when Nandha allegedly shared the sensitive footage with a group of local individuals posing as journalists. This syndicate then contacted the victim, threatening to leak the videos on social media and news portals like "Satya ni Garjana" and "Bharat Times." The group demanded ₹25 lakh to suppress the clips. Under extreme pressure, the victim initially paid ₹50,000 before approaching the Rajkot Cyber Crime Police.Police Action and Legal ChargesFollowing a detailed preliminary investigation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Jagdish Bangarwa confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Kamal Nandha and 12 others under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. The charges include:Extortion and criminal intimidation.Intentional capture and transmission of private images without consent.Publication of sexually explicit material. While the evidence has been secured, a massive manhunt is currently underway to arrest the accused individuals who are currently on the run.
