
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand is grabbing all attention. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has fielded its candidate, Baidyanath Ram. On Saturday (June 6), the JMM had announced that former minister Baidyanath Ram will contest the Rajya Sabha election from one of the two seats of the state, party leader stated. The polling to the seat will be held on June 18.JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya informed the reporters that Ram will file the nomination papers in presence of CM Hemant Soren on June 8. Addressing the issue of the second seat, Bhattacharya stated that party high command will take final call after discussion with the Congress.Pranav Jha has been chosen as candidate for CongressOn Friday (June 5), senior party leader Pranav Jha has been fielded by the Congress for one of the two seats of the state. The legislators were asking for the nomination of candidate for both the seats in a meeting attended by the Chief Minister.One Rajya Sabha seat has fallen vacant following demise of Shibu SorenOne of the Rajya Sabha seat had been vacated by the passing of JMM co-founder Shibu Soren whereas BJP leader Deepak Prakash would complete his term on June 21. Nomination for the election has started since June 1 whereas the last date for filing the nomination papers is June 8.How many MLAs does each party has in Jharkhand?The polling for Rajya Sabha election is to be held on June 18. A total of 56 MLAs are in the ruling coalition whereas 28 votes would be required for a candidate to win the Rajya Sabha seat. Out of these 56 MLAs, 34 are from the JMM, 16 from the Congress, 4 from the RJD and 2 from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation.Twenty four MLA are from NDA whereas 21 from the BJP and one each from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), the JD(U). The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha has one MLA.
