Indian batsmen have performed remarkably well on the England tour. These include opener KL Rahul. Rahul became the fourth highest run-scorer in the test series with 375 runs in three matches, two centuries and a fifty. He is gaining a lot of recognition for the way he is scoring runs on this tour. In the meantime, there has been quite some revelation from KL’s former coach regarding KL Rahul which further explains why he is able to perform so well. As per his former coach, Ravi Shastri, he believes that the change in KL Rahul’s technique for the Indian batsman seems to be the reason for the success in his performance during the tour of England. Furthermore, Shastri stated that if Rahul maintains this level of performance, then three to four years down the line his average can hover around 50 while also scoring some important centuries.Significant updates in front foot techniqueShastri shared with ICC Review that he thinks Rahul seems to have made some significant updates to his front foot technique. His defensive posture has improved, so he manages to cope with swinging balls much more effectively. Because of this, his chances of being bowled or LBW have greatly decreased.Shastri praised Rahul’s technical knowledge, pointing out that he has always possessed great technique. Now, he is applying that technique on the field effectively. So far, there has been little ball movement but if there is, he has the technique to counter it.KL’s talent is unquestionableRavi Shastri also mentioned that no one has ever questioned Rahul’s talent, but his lack of consistency has been a persistent concern. He emphasized that there is no way to argue that Rahul lacks talent. The troubling issue was that with all the talent he possessed, he could not deliver consistently. The way he has found his rhythm in this series, is extraordinary.
