Savings of ₹1,096.88 crore through FDR technology and environmental relief gained by avoiding the mining of 3.78 lakh cubic meters of aggregate—a matter of pride: Keshav Prasad Maurya

A meeting of the General Body of the Uttar Pradesh Rural Road Development Agency (UPRRDA), operating under the Rural Development Department, was convened under the chairmanship of Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya. The meeting was attended by Hon'ble Minister of State Smt. Vijay Lakshmi Gautam, Principal Secretary (Rural Development) Shri Saurabh Babu, Secretary & Commissioner (Rural Development) Shri Pramod Kumar Upadhyay, the Secretary (Finance), the Secretary (Public Works Department), the CEO of UPRRDA Shri Shiv Sahay Awasthi, along with senior officials and technical assistants from the concerned departments. Shri Maurya issued directives to coordinate with the Finance Department for the immediate issuance of financial sanctions, to ensure the sustainable use of 'footprint' and carbon credits, and to arrange for the planting of fruit-bearing trees along the roadsides upon the completion of rural road construction. He instructed the state technical team to invite the central survey team only after completing the inspection of the roads in a time-bound manner.While approving the proposals submitted by the department, the Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to immediately complete the construction of the remaining roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-3 and to expedite the foundation-laying ceremonies for the 374 roads sanctioned by the Government of India under Phase-4. He also instructed that necessary steps be taken to obtain permission from the Government of India to connect villages with a population of 250 to the scheme. During the meeting, approval was granted for the adoption of the Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) technique for the renewal and upgradation of roads under PMGSY. Through this modern and eco-friendly technique, approval has so far been granted for the construction and upgradation of 746 roads, covering a total length of 5,809.99 kilometers across the state.
