Severe Power Crisis Amid Scorching Heatwave, Akhilesh Yadav Launches Scathing Attack On BJP

As a brutal summer heatwave sweeps across northern India, the political atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh has reached a boiling point. Targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over widespread power outages and frequent load shedding, Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav launched a fierce attack on the state government. Highlighting the extreme public distress caused by the electricity shortage during peak summer, the former Chief Minister claimed that the current administration has failed miserably in managing the energy sector and that building new power infrastructure is entirely beyond the capability of the BJP.Public Distressed by Brutal Heat and Frequent Power OutagesWith temperatures soaring across Uttar Pradesh, the demand for electricity has reached record-shattering levels. Residents in several districts, including rural zones and major urban centers, are grappling with unannounced power cuts lasting several hours daily. The frequent breakdowns in transformers and grid overloads have compounded the miseries of the common man. Seizing upon this widespread public frustration, Akhilesh Yadav pointed out that the current crisis is a direct consequence of a lack of planning, zero infrastructure upgrades, and a complete failure to anticipate the state's growing seasonal energy requirements."Not a Single Unit of Extra Power Generated": Akhilesh Blames Lack of VisionExpressing his anger over the situation through an official statement, the SP Chief alleged that the BJP government has spent its entire tenure making hollow promises instead of delivering results. He asserted that the ruling dispensation has not added a single new generation unit to the state's power capacity since taking office. Yadav went on to state that the electricity currently being distributed across Uttar Pradesh is solely generated by the power plants and thermal projects that were conceptualized, approved, and constructed during the previous Samajwadi Party administration.Infrastructure Decay and Corruption Allegations In the Energy SectorThe former Chief Minister further argued that the state's electricity distribution network is on the verge of collapse due to severe neglect. He mentioned that instead of strengthening the transmission lines and replacing faulty transformers before the onset of the summer season, the department remained inactive. Yadav also levied corruption charges against the administration, claiming that public money meant for power sector reforms has been mismanaged, leaving the state's citizens to suffer in darkness while paying heavily inflated electricity bills.
