Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Maurya stated that approximately 28,000 food processing units have been established or upgraded in Uttar Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. This initiative has attracted an investment of around ₹2,200 crore and generated approximately 1.50 lakh employment opportunities. He noted that the processing and value addition of locally available agricultural and horticultural produce are imparting new momentum to the rural economy.He mentioned that under the Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Industry Policy-2023, eligible units are entitled to incentives of up to 35 percent on plant and machinery, as well as subsidies of up to 90 percent for the installation of solar power plants. The objective of these incentives is to boost investment, encourage the adoption of modern technology, and expand the state's food processing capacity. He stated that UPITS-2026 has emerged as a vital platform for connecting Uttar Pradesh's products to the global market. The Food Processing Department signed a total of 16 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during this event, with a combined value of approximately 50,000 US dollars. These agreements will facilitate the integration of the state's food processing enterprises and products into the international market and help create new export opportunities.
