
A shocking incident has emerged from Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district during the Good Governance Festival. At the Madagaon camp in the Devbhog development block, an elderly couple fell at the feet of District Panchayat CEO Prakhar Chandrakar, pleading for a Prime Minister's Housing Scheme. A video of the incident is rapidly going viral on social media.The elderly couple reportedly belongs to the Kamar tribe, a special backward community and is also known as the President's adopted son. The couple has long sought a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister's Housing Scheme), but has yet to receive benefits. Frustrated by their lack of hearing despite numerous applications and appeals to officials, they arrived at the Sushasan Tihar camp.The couple fell at the feet of the Panchayat CEO.In the video, the elderly couple can be seen prostrating before the District Panchayat CEO, demanding housing. The elderly woman and man, with folded hands, plead with the officials to provide them with a roof to live in. People present at the scene also reacted emotionally to the scene.What did the Panchayat CEO say?Regarding the matter, District Panchayat CEO Prakhar Chandrakar stated that the couple's name has not yet been included in any survey list. He explained that the family had been living outside the village since 2009, which is why their name was not included in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana list. He assured that the process of including the couple's name in the upcoming survey will be initiated and efforts will be made to provide them with housing as per their eligibility.
