Delhi-NCR has been facing the problem of air pollution for a long time. Samajwadi Party MP RK Chaudhary has blamed the cremation of dead bodies and Holika Dahan for this issue. SP MP RK Chaudhary from Mohanlalganj, a Lok Sabha constituency near Lucknow, says that when dead bodies are cremated, they release carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which burns away the oxygen in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are also released when fires are lit during Holika Dahan. Our country is not serious about air pollution. BJP MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh retorted to Chaudhary's statement and said that he should change his religion.Speaking to news agency ANI on the issue of air pollution, SP MP RK Chaudhary said, "I have been the Environment Minister. The way this work is done is wrong. In India, most NGOs and departments work to improve the environment, with the goal of reducing oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, so that the oxygen levels are good and useful for humans and animals. Everyone is working on this, but there is something wrong with it."He further said, "Work should be done to increase oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide. This isn't being done. Most NGOs and departments encourage tree planting, but corpses are burned throughout the country, releasing carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide and consuming oxygen. The opposite is true. Our festival of Holika Dahan is like this. Holika Dahan is performed simultaneously at 50 million locations across the country, consuming oxygen. Somewhere in our country, we are not serious about the environment. Our country is not serious about eliminating carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. There are other arrangements for cremation, and they should be implemented. This isn't a matter of religion. Gases that are harmful to humans and animals should be banned. Oxygen must be conserved at all costs."Union Minister Giriraj Singh's counterattackUnion Minister Giriraj Singh countered, saying, "He should change his religion. We don't know whether he's Hindu or Muslim. In Hinduism, we share three and a half feet of land in one place. In other religions, three and a half feet of land is allocated for each person." Air pollution has been a problem in many states, including Delhi, for quite some time. It worsens during winter, reducing visibility and impacting people's health.
