
Target shoppers are being alerted to a Sabra brand product recall that affects Classic Hummus and Sabra Greek Yogurt & TFA overpossible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Listeria is particularly harmful to pregnant women, elderly individuals, and those with chronic illnesses. The recall was a precautionary measure due to Listeria being found in one of the company’s manufacturing plants. Although the final products did not test positive for Listeria, the company has decided to take the extra precaution of recalling these products. Consumers are advised not to eat any of the recalled Sabra products and are advised to dispose of them or return to Target for a complete refund.The bacteria Listeria monocytogenes can make someone sick with fever, muscle pain, tiredness, nausea, and diarrhea; and in some cases, can progress to more dangerous health issues. The onset of symptoms is not immediate; in fact, it can take as long as 70 days after exposure for symptoms to develop. Listeriosis is an infection which is caused by one type of bacteria and can lead to extremely dangerous conditions. Sabra is known to have issued recalls for some of their hummus products due to Listeria concerns in 2015 and 2016. Besides hummus, Sabra has also issued recalls for other products like pretzel and snack bags with dips due to possible contamination and undeclared allergens.
